How do I get my learner's permit in Texas?
  1. Successfully complete a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) approved Texas Driver's Education course.
  2. Visit your local Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office with the appropriate paperwork.
  3. If not completed with your driver's ed course, take and pass a written knowledge exam.
  4. Pay the $16 learner license fee.
